The resources sector has launched ResourceNet, a free WiFi internet network in the Perth CBD district known as the \"Resources Quarter\" that includes St Georges Terrace and Hay and Murray Streets west from William Street, up to the Barracks Arch near Parliament House.

CME Chief Executive Tim Shanahan claims that the service is an Australian first:

“A free Internet service like this – which is switched on 24 hours per day, seven days a week – has not been provided on this scale ever before in Australia,” said Shanahan. \"ResourcesNet will enable free Internet access, courtesy of the Western Australian resources sector, in a demonstration of the sector’s support and commitment to applying the latest technology to benefit the community\".

The CME statement did not disclose the speed of the new service but claimed it would be fast enough to enable a \"pleasurable experience\".

ResourcesNet is sponsored by Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and Woodside.

wow... it really good news for me and my young-brother, especially him.
I think Perth is has a not good WiFi network infra than South Korea.
Slow bandwidth(internet speed) and very expensive charge of using internet, etc.
So, this news is a cool ~

Cheers,
